Eldrick Woods was born December 30, 1975 in California. He was given his nickname of Tiger after a friend of his fathers. The name stuck and he has been known as Tiger for all of his professional career. Tiger started to play golf at the tender age of two. He was winning tournaments from the age of eight, winning the Junior World Championship six times. Tiger is currently the No. 1 player in the World. He has won 14 professional major championships and over 60 PGA Tour events. He is the youngest player to achieve the Grand Slam in golf i.e. The US Masters, the US Open, The Open and The PGA Championship.
Colin Stuart Montgomerie was born in Glasgow on 23 June1963. 'Monty' turned professional in 1987 and was named 'Rookie of the Year of Europe' the next year. By 1993 he was Europe's number one player, (the Order of Merit) a position he retained for seven years and has won more European Tour Tournaments than any other British player. He recaptured the Order of Merit once again in 2005. Colin has been a fantastic member of the Ryder Cup Team. He has been a member of the team eight times and has never lost in a singles match. Colin will captain the European time at the 2010 event. Colin was awarded the OBE in 2004.
Bernhard Langer was born on 27 August 1957 in what was then West Germany. Bernhard was the 1st World Number 1 when the golf world rankings were introduced in 1986 and he won the Masters twice. Bernard has played in no less than ten Ryder Cup teams since 1981 and was the non-playing captain of the European team when they won in 2004. He was ordered an honorary OBE in 2006 and now works to promote the German National Open Championship. Bernard continues to play professionally on the Seniors Tour.
